Clean the pet
The game explicitly asks players to clean dirty pets. Finish the cleaning step before judging what that pet contributes to your collection or base.
Mind the sharks
Sharks are an official hazard. Learn the warning signals in your current area and keep an exit route when moving between rescue spots.
Explore islands
Check the next island's visible unlock condition before spending on upgrades. Record its name and cost; public source material does not yet provide a complete list.
Build your base
Return to your base and inspect what your rescued pets unlock. Compare an upgrade's stated benefit with the next island or rescue requirement.

If the next rescue is blocked, read the exact prompt first. If travel is the problem, focus on the shark route. If neither applies, check whether the base or next island is your current goal.
